Why study with one of our partners?
The Learning Partnerships Office is part of the Division for Lifelong Learning. It manages a range of Foundation degrees and honours-level programmes that are delivered by further education colleges and partner organisations.
Students are given the opportunity to study at a local college, or specialist organisation, and gain a University of Bath Foundation award. As students of both the University and their chosen college/partner, they are able to access facilities at both institutions.
Foundation Degrees
The Foundation degrees have been developed in a collaborative
partnership with other higher education institutions, further
education colleges, professional bodies and employers. Offered
on a full-time (2 year) or part-time (3/4 year) basis, they integrate
both academic and work-based learning and are designed to
equip students with the skills and knowledge for employment in
their chosen field.
On successful completion of a Foundation degree, students are given the option of completing a one-year (full-time) or 18 month/2 year (part-time) top-up programme leading to a full Honours degree.
Honours Years
The honours programmes are designed as progression routes for
the University of Bath Foundation degrees although applications
are welcomed from students who have completed equivalent level
qualifications at other institutions.
The honours years adopt the same work-based learning approach but add value by preparing students for potential, longer-term leadership roles at work. Students continue to study their chosen subject at honours level and to develop the critical, analytical and reflective approach valued by employers.
Placements
Students studying on the Foundation degrees may either be in
employment or may gain their work-based experience through
a placement. Assistance will be given in order to identify suitable
placements where appropriate.
Students studying on the honours years will be expected to have
identified a suitable work-based learning environment in which
they can carry out the work-based research project and to have
agreed this in advance with the Admissions Tutor/Programme
Leader.
Career opportunities
Employment opportunities vary according to the programme of
