Financial information
Tuition Fees, placements and other expenses
Tuition fees cover the costs of your academic education at Bath. They include core teaching costs, Students’ Union charges, registration and examination fees. Supplementary examinations and re-examination fees, field trips, books and non-core equipment are not included.
If we offer you a place, we will decide whether you are a UK/EU or overseas student for fees purposes. We will then be in a position to give you more detailed information on the costs of your programme of study. The following provides the basic information you need.
UK and European Union Students
These fees and related arrangements are subject to approval
by the Office of Fair Access. Our web site will be updated
when this has been received. Please see:
www.bath.ac.uk/admissions/undergrad/finance/
- If you start a full-time degree or Foundation Degree at Bath in October 2008, your tuition fee for 2008/09 will be £3,145. A similar fee is payable in each subsequent year of full-time study. The Government will determine the percentage increase which will apply.
- If you live in England or you are a European Union student, you do not have to pay this fee up-front at registration. In fact, you won’t have to pay any fees at all before you start your programme or while you are studying. You will be able to take out a loan to cover fees and will only have to start paying this back after graduation. Repayments will only start once earnings are over £15,000 a year.
- Students living in England should check the Department for
Education and Skills website at:
www.dfes.gov.uk/studentsupport/
If you live in Wales, you will need to check the Welsh Assembly Government website for information on how to pay your fees. Visit: www.learning.wales.gov.uk/students
If you live in Scotland, you should check the Student Awards Agency for Scotland website at www.saas.gov.uk/
Students living in Northern Ireland should check the Student Support for Northern Ireland website at: www.student-support.org.uk/ - EU students should check the government information website at:

- We want to make sure that your studies are not unnecessarily disrupted, and may therefore ask you for advance written evidence that you, your family or sponsor can pay the tuition fees. You must ensure that you have sufficient resources to cover tuition as well as living expenses before you accept any offer we make to you.
