Student numbers & experience

Guiding principles for the student experience
  1. The University of Bath acknowledges that students play a variety of roles in the University and that all should receive support. These roles include: Learner, University Citizen, Local Resident, Colleague, Consumer, Scholar, Ambassador.
  2. Students will be encouraged to fulfil their potential personally, academically and socially. This will be achieved through a mixture of both challenge and support.

In the academic year 2006/2007 the total number of full-time and sandwich students was 9994, of which 1551 were postgraduates. Of the 8443 undergraduates, 670 were mature students, that is, aged over 21 when they started study. These totals do not include visiting students.
