Engineering Doctorate in Systems

Qualifications and durations
Overview

The EngD in Systems is a four-year professional doctorate programme combining industry-based research and taught Masters level systems and business courses. The programme is run jointly by the University of Bath and the University of Bristol.

This programme is intended for the UK's most able research engineers and is an alternative to the traditional PhD, being better suited to the needs of industry, and providing a more vocationally-oriented doctorate in engineering.

Approximately 75% of the researcher's time is spent in a company working on an innovative systems project. Taught courses are delivered mainly as short modules in the first two years, at Bath and Bristol.

From diverse backgrounds in Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering Management, current students are working on a range of research projects in areas such as Sustainable Systems, Transportation Systems and Decision Support Systems..
