MSc/PG Diploma in Façade Engineering
Qualifications and durations
- Full-time MSc 12 months, Diploma 9 months
- Part-time MSc 24 months, Diploma 18 months
Overview
The programme provides advanced understanding of the different aspects of analysis, design and construction of cladding of buildings. It leads students to re-appraise basic physical concepts so that they may be imaginatively applied to the engineering of building façades. Graduates are qualified to pursue careers in the design, management, manufacture or construction of façades and as specialists in architectural and engineering practices. There are four taught units and a fifth module for which a dissertation must be submitted. Two units are given during each semester with one day a week of staff-student contact associated with each module.
Proposals are being progressed through the University to convert the MSc in Façade Engineering to a modular course based on four day blocks of attendance at Bath. If this proposal is passed, then the new structure will be introduced from October 2009.
