Overview
As a research student here at Bath you will have the opportunity to engage in high impact, innovative research that is both scholarly yet embedded in the practical management of business. Students are expected to carry out supervised research at the leading-edge of their chosen subject, which must then be written up as a substantial thesis.
We welcome applications from prospective research students in all areas of management including: accounting, business economics, business and society, change management, decision systems, finance, higher education management, human resource management, information systems, international business, marketing, operations management, organisational behaviour, purchasing and supply management, and strategy.
Academic entry requirements
A good undergraduate degree at second class Honours level or above or equivalent classification/GPA, or equivalent professional qualification. Students normally register for the degree of MPhil in the first instance. They may transfer to a PhD on demonstrating satisfactory progress with their research (normally after one year). Direct entry to a PhD is open only to those candidates who hold a Masters degree by research from an approved university.
English requirements
Candidates whose first language is not English will normally require an IELTS score of 7.0 with no less than 6.5 in each of the four components or a TOEFL score of 600 (paper-based test), 250 (computer-based test) (TWE: 4) or 100 (internet-based test).
Unique funding opportunities
The School is eligible for ESRC, EPSRC, ORS and University Studentships. See our website for further information.
