Why did you choose to study the MSc in Advanced Management Practice?
The MSc in Advanced Management Practice was a unique opportunity to put theory into practice, almost simultaneously; allowing for a more holistic approach towards management studies. The degree also had the perfect structure to allow for a smooth transition from academia to the real world. Bath’s reputation as a top management school and the quality of teaching provided by a high-calibre faculty, made the choice easier still.
How did you first hear about the University and the School of Management?
I first read about the University of Bath on various University league table publications and I was very impressed with the high rankings that Bath had achieved.
Did you enjoy your studies? Was it what you expected?
I have enjoyed myself immensely and the programme has exceeded all my pre-conceived expectations. The intense nature of the course constantly challenged and stimulated me whilst also providing me with the optimum environment for learning.
Was the experience rewarding? What did you learn?
The whole AMP experience was highly rewarding; I have had the privilege to attend seminars and lectures by some of the world's most prominent management leaders and academics, including Sainsbury’s CEO Justin King, McKinsey's Colin Price, Professor Douglas Tim Hall, and the Dean, Professor Andrew Pettigrew, amongst others. The programme has also presented me with the opportunity to gain knowledge through an excellent combination of management theory, business case study and personal development; affording me with a thorough and diverse skill set.
What is it like to study at Bath?
Studying at Bath is a deeply enriching experience. Bath is a beautiful, historic city (the baths and spa is a must visit) with excellent links to London and Bristol. Bath enjoys a healthy nightlife and the union organises frequent parties at the university. There are also a large number of societies and clubs you can join at the Students’ Union.
You are on your work placement at the moment. What are you doing and are you enjoying it?
I am currently working for Accenture as a project analyst for Vodafone UK. I am certainly enjoying this experience as it provides me with the perfect opportunity to put theory into practice and understand the theory in use as opposed to the espoused theory.
What do you plan to do when you graduate?
After graduation I plan to take a well deserved holiday and then continue climbing the career ladder in the management consultant arena.
Would you recommend the programme to others?
Absolutely! The MSc AMP is a highly interactive and engaging programme which constantly challenges your assumptions and provides you with an ideal platform to learn and put into practice management theories.
