Frequently asked Questions

Applying to Bath

I am a Mature Student. Can I still do an undergraduate course?

Bath welcomes applications from Mature Students. See the following page for more details:

http://www.bath.ac.uk/admissions/undergrad/apply/maturestudent.html

I have been made an offer on UCAS but haven’t heard anything from Bath University; will I?

First we will send you an offer letter around about April and then late May/early June you should receive a brochure called Getting Started, giving further information about accommodation and term dates etc

I have been rejected what happens next?

If you have been unsuccessful here, there are five other institutions that may still be considering your application. UCAS will let you know each University decision and then ask you to choose a Firm and Insurance choice from the offers that you have received. If you do not receive any offers, or choose to decline the offers that have been made, you should be eligible for UCAS EXTRA and/or CLEARING.

Can I find out why my application was unsuccessful?

Yes, The University of Bath will give feedback to applicants who have been unsuccessful. Please contact the department you applied to study with.

I have been made an offer for the forthcoming year but I wish to defer. Is that possible?

Yes, it is usually possible to defer. Please contact the Department you have applied to study with.

I was unwell before my exams should I tell anyone?

If there are special circumstances surrounding your performance in your exams or coursework, please let us know before your results come out. Such circumstances might include an illness or that of a close relative, bereavement, difficulties or instability at school or problems at home. It is much better for us to receive this information before the results come out so that we can let Admissions Tutors know in good time. It is difficult for us to take account of this information in August, which is the busiest time of year.

Finance and Money

How can I find out what fees I will be charged?

See Undergraduate Tuition Fees

When you complete your UCAS application form, you will have completed the residential category section. This is checked by the University and if we have any doubt about your status we shall contact you.

If you are seeking confirmation of your fee status prior to making your acceptance decisions, please contact the Undergraduate Admissions Office and we will tell you what your status for fee is. If there is any doubt, or there has been a change to your circumstances, we will ask you to complete a fee status questionnaire. For further information see our Tuition Fee Status page.

I am worried about money - who can help?

Please look at our Student Money Service advice pages.

Visiting the University

When are the Open Days?
The Open Days for 2008 are on June 17th and September 18th. Please follow this link for more information about University Open Days:

http://www.bath.ac.uk/opendays/programme.html

I can’t attend any of the open days; can I visit at another time?

Yes, you can! The University of Bath has an "open campus" policy which means that you are welcome to visit the campus at any time without the need to register your visit. Please call at the Security Office or the General Enquiries Office (both located in Wessex House, Level 2) where you will be able to obtain a campus map and advice about finding your way around. Alternatively campus plans and details on how to get here are available on our website at http://www.bath.ac.uk/getting-here/.

If you wish to make an appointment to talk to someone about a specific course, please contact the relevant Department directly.

Regrettably, due to the large number of enquiries we receive, we are unable to offer individual campus tours.
