Open Days & Visits
Before you apply
You, your family and friends are welcome to visit the University. Bath's Open Days provide the ideal opportunity not only to see the campus but also meet with academic staff. However if you are not able to come on either of these days you may visit independently. Information for schools & colleges.
Undergraduate Open Days
University wide open days are held twice a year. These are for people interested in finding out more about our courses, and who are considering applying to us. In addition, many departments hold their own open days. Generally these are for potential students who have already applied to the University and are by invitiation only. Please contact the relevant department for more information.
The next general undergraduate open day will be on the 25th June 2009.
You will have the opportunity to:
- Visit academic departments
- Talk to students, lecturers and admissions staff
- View accommodation
- Try out our catering facilities
- Find out how to apply
- Listen to talks on academic subjects, money matters and all aspects of student life.
You don't need to book in advance but please make sure you look at the programme as it contains important pre-arrival information. Full details of the day will be available on our website 3 weeks before the event takes place. But if you would like an idea of the format of the day a typical programme is available for you to view here.
If you have any difficulties viewing the programme or the timetable, please write (including your full postal address) to:
Open Day programmes, Recruitment & Admissions Office, University of Bath, Bath, BA2 7AY for a printed copy.
Postgraduate Open Days
The Postgraduate Open Day for 2008 was held on 17 June. See below for how to arrange an individual visit to the University. If you would like to attend an Open Day in 2009, you can get an idea of the format of the day from a typical programme available for you to view here.
Individual Visits
The University of Bath is open to visitors on weekdays and weekends and you are welcome to visit the campus at any time without the need to register your visit. It may not be possible to see individual departments as Admissions Tutors are likely to be teaching or researching, but you are welcome to contact the departments to see if any members of staff are available.

After you apply
If the department you have applied to offers you a place or an interview, they may invite you to a departmental open day where you will have the opportunity to meet students and staff and attend talks and tours.
Schools and Colleges Liaison
The Recruitment and Admissions Office is happy to provide information and advice to schools, colleges and careers advisers. It may also be possible for us to organise group visits and provide support to school and college students on university application procedures.
