Global Languages Cafe
Do you speak another language? Or would you like to practise your skills in a foreign language? On Thursday February 7th language enthusiasts from the University gathered for coffee, tea and biscuits in the Level 1 Café for the Global Languages Café which was sponsored by the International Office. Twenty-five languages were on offer, each language decorated with a beautiful pot of flowers.
Whether you had an interest in Spanish, French or even Russian, your language skills were indeed put to the test. International students and UK students alike got together and even though a few mistakes were made, laughter and body language contributed to understanding of even the most difficult words or phrases.
The event was sponsored by the International Office and was a part of the Celebrating Diversity Month which is an excellent event happening on campus this February. Big thanks also to the international student helpers and Global Group who promoted the event on facebook and whose several of its members attended the event.
