Trip to Cornwall 08
During the last weekend of April, a group of excited and tired international students left the University bus stop at 7am to embark on the long journey to the beautiful coast of Cornwall. A stop at the famous Eden Project and a sleep over in St Ives was on the agenda for Saturday, while on Sunday we enjoyed the amazing views of Land’s End and visited an ancient castle on the island of St Michael’s Mount.

Eden Project welcomed us with blue sky and flowers full in bloom, and we all enjoyed wandering around enjoying the rare species of plants. After the Eden Project we drove to the stunning beach town of St Ives with its massive sandy beaches, narrow and quirky streets, with seafood, arts & crafts on offer. Be aware of the seagulls though, which were responsible for several of us losing our sandwiches and ice creams.
After a joyful evening in the youth hostel, we all got up early again to enjoy a Full English or a Continental breakfast at the pub opposite the hostel, which made us ready for another day of sightseeing and bus travel. First stop was Land’s End, which was surprisingly empty of tourists, and we had the whole place for ourselves. Most of us sat down in the sun relaxing, admiring the rough cliff edges and the blue sea which went on for miles.

St Michael’s Mount was the last stop on route, which was reached by small ferries from the mainland. A wander around the historic castle and amazing views over the sea left all of us awestruck, and the afternoon ended with the taste of Cornish pasties at the local café.
It was a quick, but lovely introduction to the beautiful Cornish coast, and I know for sure that at least I will travel back there as soon as possible. Everyone returned to Bath with a smile and red cheeks from lots of fresh air and warm sunshine, exactly what one needs before the term ends!
