Mayor’s Civic Reception at the Roman Baths
The 780th Mayor of Bath, Councillor Mrs Sharon Ball, welcomed 300 students from all over the world to a drinks reception in the Pump Room on Tuesday 27th November. Students from University of Bath, Bath Spa University and City of Bath College were able to enjoy snacks and a glass of wine or fruit juice while conversing below chandeliers in stunning surroundings. Each institution had been asked to provide one speaker on behalf of their institution and our speaker was Ghulam Nabi Marri from Pakistan. Ghulam delivered an excellent speech about his first few days on the First Steps programme here at the University and also speaking of his love for the beautiful city of Bath and his enjoyment of studying here.
After the thank you speeches the students were able to go on a free tour of the Roman Baths. With the backdrop of the beautiful abbey at night, and the steam coming from the warm baths, the atmosphere became mystical and the views magnificent. All in all a remarkable evening.
