Finding work
JobLink
JobLink is the University's Student Employment Service, based in the Students' Union. JobLink helps students find temporary parttime work whilst studying in Bath.
Before advertising jobs JobLink requires all employers to comply with a Code of Practice. This ensures that the work advertised is:
- fair and safe
- pays a minimum wage and
- in term-time, is for a maximum of 15 hours per week.
International students are often limited to 20 hours per week in accordance with their entry visa. Failure to comply with your visa could result in deportation and a fee.
Some EU students are also bound by regulations so check before accepting any work.
There is also a free registration facility which allows you to update your availability for work online or by text messaging, and allows the employer to contact you directly on your phone if they are looking for workers with your skills.
For full details and to view all vacancies visit joblink.
Vacation Work and Jobs for Graduates
are considering applying for work in the UK during a vacation, or after you graduate, it is a good idea to start early. We can also help you if you want to look for work outside the UK. We have a vacancy listing on our website where employers advertise vacancies, but we also know where else you can look for jobs and experience. To find out which organisations are currently recruiting for graduate posts and vacation work (paid and unpaid, UK based and overseas) visit: www.bath.ac.uk/careers
We have information, and run events on topics like Job Search, CV (Resume) Writing and Preparing for Interviews. There are three Careers Fairs per year (including one focusing paid and voluntary work during vacations) and we organise a large number of presentations by employers, including multinationals.
