Be careful
Don't give your PIN to anyone, and don't use a cash machine on the street if you don't feel safe.
Bank Statements are really useful
Keep all of your bank statements: if you want to extend your stay in the UK then the Home Office will want to see them.

Opening a bank account

There are two banks on campus, NatWest and Barclays, and lots in Bath including HSBC and Lloyds. The International Office will provide further information on specific types of bank account. Please note it is only possible to open a basic bank account in the UK for details click here. Before opening a bank account you'll need to register with the University, pay your fees and move into your accommodation.

What you will need to open an account

In some cases banks will accept your Student Status (registration letter) as proof of your two addresses. It's a good idea to have proof of your bank account at home.

If you don't have a registration letter then you will need to go to the University's Registry Enquiries Office, Wessex House 2.12c, or online registration at ROL and request a letter addressed to the bank. This will prove to the bank that you are a student and it will give your UK and overseas addresses. Note: the Registry takes 2-6 working days to produce a bank letter for you.

What will the bank offer me?
