Other nurseries

The International Office has details of other local nurseries.

School nurseries

Some primary schools have nursery classes. These are for children who will be 4 in the current school year (1 September and 31 August). Half-day places are free of charge.

Bath Toy Library

The Bath toy library is run by volunteers and open to parents and carers of all children under 5 in Bath and has hundreds of fantastic toys to hire - from jigsaws and videos to garden slides! There is a small membership fee - take proof of your address and ID.

The Bath toy library is at the Riverside Community Centre, London Road (next to Morrisons). It's open the first and third Thursday of every month, 10:00-12:00.

Schooling for Children

Children between the ages of 4 and 16 may attend primary (age 4 -11) and secondary schools (age 11-16). The school year begins in September and ends in July. The school day runs from around 09:00 until 15:15.

Finding a school

It's not possible to register your child at a school before you have an address in the UK. Once you are in Bath, the ISAs will be happy to help you find a school place for your child. Contact the International Office for more information about schools.

After-school Clubs

After-school clubs will collect children from school and care for them until 18:00. There is a charge.

Holiday playschemes

During school holidays playschemes run from 08:30-18:00. There is a charge for them.

Childminders

A registered childminder will look after your child in their home or in your home. This is usually more expensive than an out-of-school club. The International Office keeps lists of out-of-school clubs and registered childminders.
