Employment for your partner
EU/EEA / Swiss Nationals
Dependants of an EU/EEA / Swiss national do not need permission to work, whatever their nationality.
A8 and Romanian and Bulgarian dependents
May need to register for work, see www.bia.homeoffice.gov.uk or visit the International Office.
All Others
Anyone entering the UK as the dependant partner of an international student should have their passport stamped to work if:
- The student has leave to remain for 12 months and
- The student is not prohibited from employment.
When your partner is applying for entry clearance to the UK they will need photocopies from your passport showing:
- The page with your name on
- The page that shows your entry clearance/ visa sticker
- The page showing how long your permission to stay lasts.
