Budgeting
It is very important to begin your studies knowing that you have enough funding to support yourself and any dependents. Though we can offer you advice on how to budget, the University is not able to support you financially once you arrive. If you are hoping for sponsorship, this should be arranged in your home country long before you begin your course.
The cost of living in the UK is high. Bath is a relatively expensive city because of its location and the excellent quality of life here. Though students are usually very happy in Bath, many tell us that they find it costly.
Managing your Money
It is possible to manage your money wisely. To give you an idea of what to expect and to help you with this, you will find a guide to estimated living expenses for you to fill in here. Please use this to plan ahead. Alternatively visit the Student Money Service for more advice.
During your first week we will provide you with an opportunity to meet current students to ask them for advice on how to save your British pounds and pennies!
Also, though you must be able to support yourself financially without relying on wages from part-time work (if you need to obtain Entry Clearance) and your primary focus will be your studies, many of you will want to get a job to supplement your savings. We will provide you with support and advice in order to give you the best possible chance of finding work during your studies. For further information on working during your studies visit click here.
