Accommodation
Applying for University residence
Allocation Procedure
You will be guaranteed Univesity residence if:
- you are new to Bath and
- a first year full-time overseas fee-paying undergraduate and
- studying at the Claverton Down campus and
- have accepted a course offer and
- have applied online for accommodation by 3 September 2008.
Those who apply by 31 July 2008 will be guaranteed accommodation on the Claverton campus whereas later applicants may be housed in one of our city centre complexes.
Postgraduates classified as overseas for fees purposes, who have not previously studied at Bath, will be offered a place in University residence for up to one academic year.
New postgraduate students classified as home or EU students for fees purposes are not guaranteed University residence, but can apply from 1 April 2008 here
You may apply to go on a waiting list but availability is limited and therefore it is recommended that you also make use of the private sector lettings database for which you need a password.
Lettings
The vast majority of rooms are let on a sessional basis which means that your room in residence is available for the academic year including vacation periods. Rent covers the whole of the period September to June the following year, or September for postgraduates on whole session contracts, including vacation periods.
If you go away during the session you are not required to vacate the room or return the key.
One residence, Polden Court, is let on a split-sessional basis. In Polden Court your room in residence is available for the academic year (September-June) but must be cleared during the Easter vacation (you are permitted to stay during the Christmas vacation). At Easter the room must be cleared and the key returned. If residence is required during vacation time you must apply and pay for it separately and you will be moved to a different room.
Sessional residence is recommended for international students if you will be unable to clear your rooms during the Easter vacation.
