Alumni Fund Scholarships (USA)
Please be aware that the deadline for 2008 applications has now passed. Applications for 2009 will open in January 2009.
The Alumni Fund Scholarships are funded through the generosity of American-based graduates of the University of Bath. The purpose of these prestigious awards is to assist international candidates of high academic ability to study at the University.
Two Alumni Fund Scholarship (USA) are open to applicants for a taught master’s degree. Each is worth the equivalent of US$5500 in the form of a discount on tuition fees and is open to US nationals who have graduated from university in the USA.

How many scholarships are there?
There are two scholarships for taught postgraduate students.
Candidates must:
• Be a national of the USA
• Be a graduate of a university in the USA
Each scholarship is worth $5500 and will be in the form of a discount in tuition fees. The taught postgraduate scholarship is for one year only and cannot be deferred to a later year. The Alumni Fund Scholarship (USA) can be in held with other awards from the University of Bath (such as the University of Bath scholarships) provided that the total number of awards is not greater than the tuition fee.
How do I apply?
For applicants looking to start at Bath in 2009
First of all you need to have formally accepted an offer from us. The offer can be unconditional or conditional. Then, you need to complete the application form and send it to the address on the form before 30 June 2009. You are strongly advised to apply before 31 July.
How does the university choose the candidates?
Of course, all our scholarship holders are chosen for their academic excellence. We will also use the information you provide in the separate scholarship application form to judge your application. Financial circumstances are not taken into account for these awards.
Do I need to have firmly accepted an offer from Bath in order to be considered for a scholarship?
Yes. Remember that you can formally accept any offer: conditional or unconditional.
What happens if I have a conditional offer?
If you have a conditional offer, then of course any scholarship offer will also be conditional until you have achieved the grades that you need for entry to Bath.
Can I have more than one scholarship?
If you already have a partial scholarship from another organisation for part of your tuition fees, you can combine this scholarship with an Alumni Fund Scholarship (USA) provided that together they do not equal more than the cost of your tuition fees.
What happens if my financial situation changes?
If your financial situation changes, then the University reserves the right to reconsider the award. For example: in the case that you were awarded a full fee scholarship from another organisation after you had been shortlisted for an Alumni Fund Scholarship (USA).
When do I find out the results?
We will notify all the successful candidates by 31 July 2009 at the latest.
