Living costs

As a single student

Your living expenses will vary according to your life-style and type of accommodation, but as a general guide the cost of living for students in Bath has been estimated at £7,488 per academic year (nine months) for a single undergraduate student, and £10,595 per year per calendar year (12 months) for a single postgraduate student.

You should anticipate that living costs will rise by approximately 2-3% each year, in line with inflation.

Research postgraduates should also budget for any writing up period in the UK necessary following the completion of their course. This could be between 3 - 6 months.

As a family

The cost of living in the UK is high, and it is very expensive to support a family. If you wish to bring your spouse and/or children to live with you in Bath during your studies, you will need to have sufficient money to accommodate and maintain them without recourse to public funds.

The estimated annual cost of living for a postgraduate student with a wife and one school age child is £22,966. Further details are available from the International Office on request.
