Entry Requirements
For entry to all our programmes you will need to demonstrate that your qualifications meet the University of Bath entrance requirements. These are general guidelines only and exact requirements will vary on an individual basis and from subject to subject. Some programmes may require you to have studied certain subjects before coming to Bath. For some of our postgraduate programmes there may be additional non-academic entrance requirements such as relevant work experience. For all our programmes you will also need to satisfy the University's English language requirements. If you are unsure about which level of study or how to complete your application please refer to our Your application section. If you have taken exams from another country's national education system please refer to that country page for details.

Undergraduate degrees
The University welcomes applications from students taking A Level examinations and the International Baccalaureate (IB) for direct entry into its undergraduate programmes. Students holding the Al Shahada Al Thanawiya / Baccalauréat (Secondary School Leaving Certificate) will be expected to undertake a foundation programme or some other form of bridging study to be eligible for admission to an undergraduate degree programme. The University of Bath offers a one-year Foundation Course (UCAS code Y008), which is ideal preparation for degree-level study.
Minimum English Language Requirement IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL 550 (paper-based test) or 213 (computer-based test) or 80 (internet-based test)
Masters level
Holders of a Bachelors degree are welcome to apply for a Masters degree at the University of Bath. A high GPA/degree classification will be expected. A full certified transcript must accompany the application.
Minimum English language requirement: IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL 580 (paper test) ; 237 (computer test); 92 (internet-based test)
For liguistically demanding Master Programmes (including MBA, MSc in Management, MSc in Multimedia Technology, MSc Computer Science, MSc Human Communication and Computing): IELTS 7.0 or TOEFL 600 (paper test); 250 (computer test); 100 (internet-based test)
Masters scholarships
The University of Bath Scholarships Scheme 2008 offers 75 scholarships of £3000 for students on post-graduate taught programmes. Candidates must complete a separate application form once they have fimly accepted an offer from Bath. For full details see here.
A number of external funding bodies exist to support Masters level study in the UK and any applicant seeking support is also strongly advised to explore potential sources of financial aid available in their own country. In many cases the British Council will have a number of awards on offer through the Chevening scheme and further details may be obtained from the British Council in your country (http://www.britishcouncil.org/ecs/contact/countries.htm). Alternatively, there are international agencies, government departments, charitable organisations and private companies that may be able to provide financial aid for certain programmes of study and all are worth exploring.
Research level
A Masters level qualification will be required for PhD entry. Evidence of some research experience (for example through a Masters degree project) is expected. Certified transcripts of all previous degree-level studies must accompany the application.
Some departments at the University of Bath now also offer the New Route PhD. This is a four-year programme that combines taught and research elements and may enable you to obtain a Masters degree (MRes) after one year. Applicants to the New Route PhD will not normally be required to hold a Masters degree when they apply to the University.
