Entry Requirements

For entry to all our programmes you will need to demonstrate that your qualifications meet the University of Bath entrance requirements. These are general guidelines only and exact requirements will vary on an individual basis and from subject to subject. Some programmes may require you to have studied certain subjects before coming to Bath. For some of our postgraduate programmes there may be additional non-academic entrance requirements such as relevant work experience. For all our programmes you will also need to satisfy the University's English language requirements. If you are unsure about which level of study or how to complete your application please refer to our Your application section. If you have taken exams from another country's national education system please refer to that country page for details.

If you cannot find what you are looking for or would like further information or advice please contact the International Office and we will be happy to help.

A number of external funding bodies exist to support Masters level study in the UK and any applicant seeking support is also strongly advised to explore potential sources of financial aid available in their own country. In many cases the British Council will have a number of awards on offer through the Chevening scheme and further details may be obtained from the British Council in your country (http://www.britishcouncil.org/ecs/contact/countries.htm). Alternatively, there are international agencies, government departments, charitable organisations and private companies that may be able to provide financial aid for certain programmes of study and all are worth exploring.

A Masters level qualification from a prestigious university will normally be required. Evidence of some research experience (for example through a Masters degree project) is expected. Certified transcripts of all previous degree-level studies must accompany the application.

Some departments at the University of Bath now also offer the New Route PhD. This is a four-year programme that combines taught and research elements and may enable you to obtain a Masters degree (MRes) after one year. Applicants to the New Route PhD will not normally be required to hold a Masters degree when they apply to the University. Further information about New Route PhD can be found at http://www.bath.ac.uk/grad-office/newroutephd.
