Welcome to ICIA
ICIA is an academic research centre commissioning new arts projects regionally and nationally, as well as providing training for artists, arts professionals, academics and educators with an emphasis on interdisciplinary practice. This year, our season explores themes around memory and space, and is entitled Plotting... arts and place
The current brochure is available as a PDF.
With the proposal for the University’s new Arts Complex underway, and architect’s firm MUMA refining the plans, ICIA’s 2009 theme is inspired by the anticipation of an exciting new cultural future. With a plot of land soon to be transformed, our programme explores the idea of arts and place.
Highlights include Brazilian born Jean Abreu, whose dancers conjure the unpredictable tensions in city plazas. Performers Lone Twin, work with local people in Kensington Meadows. Bath theatre company Kilter perform on an allotment, unpicking our attitudes towards food and the land.
Jem Finer, celebrated sound artist and composer, is in residence to develop his sound and moving image project, tracking down material on campus. We venture to Komedia, Bath’s new venue, to present the 14-piece Icebreaker, one of the world’s finest new music ensembles.
Tea, a group of visual artists, search for the unfamiliar in a wasteland poised for regeneration. Artist Pam Skelton maps out the 483 Stasi safe houses in an East German city. And there’s a rare showing of Keiller's distinctive film, London, a portrait of a city in decay. Join our e-bulletin to stay up to date.
We are situated on the University of Bath campus, Claverton Down, five minutes drive from the centre of Bath. Our mixed programme of performance, exhibitions, talks, films, workshops and classes takes place on and off campus too. Activities are open to the general public alongside the student community.
Book Now for new season. Classes start from 19 January, and include dance, visual arts and music.
