Innovative, flexible learning for postgraduate students
The School for Health's postgraduate programmes are all delivered via distance learning online ('e-learning'), which is supported using a Virtual Learning Environment called Moodle.
Moodle enables participants to access all the course material, resources, information, and tutor/peer support that they need. Moodle is highly interactive and effective at supporting professionals who are studying at a distance online, and within which there are a large range of tools to help facilitate flexible, student-directed learning. Some of these tools are highlighted below:
Online activities
Most of the learning is activity driven. These online activities usually take the form of a problem based discussion forum where students can contribute and learn from each other, and also our online tutors, who are subject experts on hand to help guide the discussions and answer questions.
Virtual clinics
The use of audio and video within a unit of study has allowed the creation of virtual clinics for some of our programmes. These clinics are based on real life cases using example scenarios and guide you through how you might approach such a problem in real life.
Resources
There are a wide range of resources available online. These may be selected journal articles, online book chapters, useful websites and audio and video material. This makes for an interesting and varied learning experience allowing participants to select those resources which they find most useful to aid in their learning.
Information for alumni
School for Health alumni can take a range of CPD units from our postgraduate programmes.
Visit the main University of Bath alumni website to find out about forthcoming events and reunions, both in the UK and abroad, and to find out more about the alumni membership scheme and the benefits.
