Organisations with links to the School
The School enjoys a strong working relationship with all the following organisations:
BIME - Bath Institute of Medical Engineering
BIME is a design and development charity working to improve the quality of life of people with disabilities and healthcare problems. These range from technology for people with dementia to very practical items of daily living equipment.
The Institute is an independent body and was founded, and continues to be maintained, by charitable grants and donations. It is housed within the Royal United Hospital in Bath and is managed by the University of Bath, with which it has strong technical links.
RICE - The Research Institute for the Care of Older People
The aim of the Institute is to carry out and publish effective research to: improve knowledge of the aging process, to improve the understanding and use of drug treatments for older people and to improve the quality of life for older people.
The research carried out by RICE covers a wide variety of areas and is intended to advance the knowledge and treatment of the more serious conditions affecting older people, in particular Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia and to improve their quality of life. The Institute also runs Memory Clinics and offers appropriate education and/or training to elderly people, their families and carers and to professionals. It is a charity and was opened in 1986 by its Patron, Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Kent.
RNHRD – Royal National Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases
The RNHRD is a small, specialist Trust in the centre of Bath. It was founded in 1738 as The Mineral Water Hospital, and is still known locally as "The Min". The RNHRD is a modern, well-equipped hospital specialising in rheumatic diseases and rehabilitation, providing local rheumatology services, and also has specialist clinics and services, which attract referrals from a national population. Extensive research and development programmes support the quality of care provided, with a high priority given to education and training for health care professionals and patients.
