The University of Bath has a long history of close links with business, industry and public services, which reflect its origins as a trade school. Long before the majority of universities sought significant outside funding, Bath had close relationships with companies such as Ford, which has placed important research at the University for several decades.
The University's business links include:
- 2,500 organisations that take the majority of our students on year-long placements as part of their four-year degrees
- 140 companies that work with the University on major research programmes such as work to cut pollution from diesel engines
- Successful 'spin-out' companies that we set up using the expertise of our researchers, including a drug company with a market value of £60 million
- Being part of the SETSquared Partnership established to encourage enterprise and build more businesses. It has a research staff of 6,400 and a budget of £266 million
- Expertise within our School of Management, one of the highest-rated in the country
- Our willingness to offer our business expertise to the community, including a range of services for business people in the Bath and Swindon areas.
