Welcome by the Head of Department 
The Department of Biology and Biochemistry at the University of Bath is one of the premier UK bioscience departments, consistently ranked among the very best in all major UK bioscience league tables.
With 45 academic staff our research is diverse, and rated '5' in the 2001 HEFCE Research Assessment Exercise. Approximately 125 papers are published in peer reviewed journals each year. Our current research grant portfolio stands at £14.7 million and we have over 100 full time MPhil/PhD and MRes students.
We offer a flexible choice of three and four year contemporary undergraduate degree programmes. Two thirds of all students complete a year in research laboratories around the world prior to their final year. Our teaching is of the very highest quality and final year students consistently register a very high level of satisfaction in the annual National Student Survey.
