General information
The University campus is about 2km from the centre of Bath. There is a frequent bus service to and from the University (and it can be walked for the more energetic!). A ten journey ticket available from STA Travel and the Bus Station, and it can be even cheaper if you purchase a discount pass for longer periods of travel. Bath is a beautiful city, with a lovely atmosphere and plenty of attractions to make your visit here both fulfilling and exciting.
For further information on living in the different areas of Bath, please view Living in Bath - Local Area Information.
Private Sector Database - BathStudentPad.co.uk
The Accommodation Office maintains a regularly up-dated database of self catered accommodation lodgings, bedsits, flats and houses which are available to rent in the private sector.
The vacancies advertised
are offered for University of Bath students only and you will be asked
to provide details of the course you are attending which will be checked
by the Accommodation Office. Details are continuously updated and new
vacancies will become available on a regular basis. Most of these vacancies
are available from 1 July 2008, but please check with the landlord.
The Bathstudentpad.co.uk is
currently listing accredited and non accredited properties that have current vacancies.
Properties and rooms available for the academic 2009/2010 will be added to Bathstudentpad.co.uk from Friday 6th February 2009 (exact time to be confirmed).
Currently in your first year at Bath? Living in University Accommodation?
Come to the Housing Forum to get advice and information about private rental accommodation to prepare you for house hunting.
Students are strongly recommended NOT to be pressurised by landlords or agents to commit to anything BEFORE the University database becomes available. Bath has plenty of private sector accommodation.
Accessing the database
A password is required to access the database.
If you are already registered at the University of Bath and therefore have a BUCS username and password, you can get the password from the following webpage,
http://www.bath.ac.uk/accommodation/private/studentpad.bho/access.shtml
If you are not yet registered and do not have a BUCS username or password, you can apply for a password using the online password request form.

Whilst the Accommodation Office has made every effort to ensure that the details are correct, it remains the students’ responsibility to make appropriate enquiries as to the exact terms of the letting.
Private properties are neither visited or inspected by the University nor are they recommended as suitable. You must make your own decision.
The University shall not be responsible for any defects or shortcomings in the properties on the database and accepts no liability for loss or damage whatsoever resulting from occupation of any property (except for death or personal injury due to the University’s negligence). It is therefore important that you are absolutely sure before you sign an agreement that the accommodation is suitable for your needs and that the landlord has complied with the relevant safety requirements.
If there is gas at the property the landlord must have a Landlord’s Gas Safety Record and all soft furnishings should comply with the Furniture and Furnishings (Fire) (Safety) Regulations.
The addresses on this list are supplied to assist you. The Accommodation Office cannot make any reservations on behalf of individual students.

Try not to go on viewings alone. If you must, let someone know where you are going and
what time you expect to be back.
Our Students Union AWARE Centre publishes a useful Housing Handbook
detailing your rights and responsibilities as a tenant, and giving advice
and information on private tenancies. Please email aware@bath.ac.uk if you would like a copy.
